Job Description:
The Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Research provides primary leadership and administrative oversight for all academic program offerings for attainment of the professional degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM), including development and implementation of a top-quality innovative academic, clinical and scholarly educational programs across the educational continuum. The Senior Associate Dean also supports appropriate research infrastructure and serves as a liaison with KCU research leadership, offices and committees, such as Office of Sponsored Research and KCU Research Committee.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the day to day academic administration of the college through top quality innovative curriculum development and implementation based on competency based models of student learning
- Develop, articulate and implement an innovative and coherent strategic plan for the educational programs of the college that will further the mission and vision of the COM
- Monitor and stay abreast of trends in medical and health professions education and health care movements that impact medical education, and advocate for and strategically plan reform in the education environment
- Coordinate the curriculum across the education continuum and recommend grading structure and information for student evaluation, performance, and portfolio development
- Develop and implement the assessment program and continuous quality and improvement activities
- Obtain and manage resources for curricular improvements that will support and enhance the educational experience, including educational technology, facilities, and finances
- Direct policy and procedures development and implementation
- Direct and guide college efforts to satisfy the requirements of COCA, including the preparation for, and follow -up to, the process of reaffirmation of accreditation: act as a leader in management and support of the Self-Study and its committees
- Develop and implement the college's plan for assessment and accreditation standard compliance for program, students and faculty assessment and evaluation
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring and orientation of college faculty
- Assist with the coordination of faculty development and enrichment
- Work closely with administrators to ensure appropriate faculty distribution and workloads
- Lead analysis and interpretation of higher level academic and student data and direct appropriate changes to the curriculum and student experience
- Oversee the scholarly and research enterprise for the College, including student research activities
- Ensure compliance with all research requirements for the College
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Dean
Qualifications:
- DO, PhD, MD from an accredited institution plus five to eight years of relevant administrative experience at the level of Associate Dean, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired
- Sound understanding of curricular development, assessment techniques, and analytics
- Relevant experience related to medical education and higher education administration
- Established research track record of funded grants and publications
- Good program planning, organizational, administrative, supervisory, and budget management skills
- Good writing skills: good investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups within and outside of the university, frequently in difficult circumstances regarding highly sensitive and confidential matters
