Description: Manages the day-to-day operations of a small or medium-sized university program or department. May supervise staff employees, student workers, programs or processes. 1. May prepare or participate in the creation of abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation. 5. Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures. 9. May serve as property custodian for the department. 10. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. The Front Office Manager is responsible for managing the Bauer College of Business Marketing and Entrepreneurship front desk operations to ensure the consistent quality of customer service is provided to all students and visitors in-person and on the phone in accordance with Bauer College of Business standards.
The primary function of this role is an employer-facing one and involves the following specific duties: 1. Oversee office front desk, departmental suites, and work room operations. 2. Train, supervise, and evaluate the work of student employees; this includes reviewing resumes and aid in scheduling interviews. 3. Communicate effectively with all personnel and provide them with excellent customer service. 4. Manage and advise departmental visitors as needed. 5. Receives, responds and resolves customer inquiries and complaints by conducting thorough research of the situation and providing effective resolutions. 6. Assist in-person visitors and by phone by providing general information or informing them of other contacts within the college and/or university that may assist them. 7. Ensure work room is fully stocked and well organized. 8. Monitor and order office and workroom supplies. 9. Order faculty supplies as requested. 10. Assist in Department event preparation. 11. Process vouchers for payment. 12. Process Travel requests and reimbursements, and ensure UH travel policies are followed by department personnel. 13. Submit FIXIT work orders. 14. Assist the Property Custodian with annual inventory. 15. Proactively identify process improvement opportunities.
This position is Monday-Friday 8am-5pm to provide office coverage during business hours. You may be expected to open and/or close the office.
Preferences: • Working knowledge of Excel, MS Office 365, general search engine usage. • Detail oriented; willing to learn; adaptable; ability to work comfortably with faculty, staff, and students from a diverse set of backgrounds.
