Description: The Project Estimator is responsible for providing accurate and competitive pricing information for both capital and non-capital construction projects within the University of Houston System. 1. Estimates preliminary and final construction cost and total project cost for proposed capital projects in planning, both new and renovation project types costing under and over $4M. 2. Reviews contractor GMPs and contractor estimates for accuracy for the project management team. 3. Maintains and/or creates database with current and historical regional construction cost for the System. 4. Collaborates with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors on estimates. 5. Recommends suggestions to improve project cost effectiveness when needed to maintain project budget. 6. Works with managers to inform and obtain cost-estimating software to best fit the University of Houston System. 7. Establishes cash flow for project duration. 8. Tracks and documents current construction cost indexes. 9. Performs other job-related duties as required. MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
