Position Summary:
Develop, administer, and control institutional data resources to assure their availability, performance, integrity, and security. Provide continuous support by modifying and enhancing existing custom data structures. Create, monitor, and maintain SSIS Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes for internal/external extracts, merging of data across enterprise data sources to create consumable content for our enterprise analytics developers. Administer, monitor, secure, and deploy enterprise analytics tools. Collaborate with organizational analytics teams to migrate existing analytics content to the Power BI infrastructure: including creation of dataflows from enterprise data sources, and development of semantic models for analytics resources. Establish best practice guidelines and development workflows for all analytics development. Provide Power BI tool support by troubleshooting performance issues, implementing backup/recovery strategies, and managing security models.
Position Responsibilities
Develop and maintain databases and analytical content associated with organizational initiatives.
Develop processes that automate data collection, data integration, and reporting efforts.
Execute Power BI administrative tasks to support infrastructure growth. This involves managing workspaces, securing resources, developing performance monitoring tools, and overseeing deployment pipelines.
Offer best practice guidance and documentation for Power BI development to both internal and external developers. Conduct QA checks of Power BI content before deploying it into production workspaces.
Monitor Power BI capacity activity, addressing issues such as slow report performance, capacity overload, inefficient data models, resource allocation, and long-running queries. Assist with troubleshooting these problems.
Support development teams with Power BI issues by researching, troubleshooting, and engaging with the tool vendor when necessary to resolve problems.
Work with analytics teams across the organization to develop and implement dataflows and semantic models.
Maintain clear and complete documentation for all analytical processes and procedures.
Provide data management support to ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy.
Adapt and learn new methodologies or tools based on project requirements.
As a member of HCIS, adhere to Enterprise Analytics Division expectations.
Participate in upgrade-related validations as needed for source systems.
Participate in off hours support for business initiatives as needed.

Education Required
Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering or MIS or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications
Typically, 5 years of experience working directly with relational database systems using SQL and SQL procedural languages. Required skills include a thorough understanding of relational database design fundamentals and the ability to write and interpret highly complex SQL DML and DDL statements.
Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
Ability to interpret, modify and create complex custom database stored procedures and functions.
Experience with interpreting query execution plans to identify opportunities for improved performance in a very high-volume database environment.
Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
Proficiency in Power BI
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and strong interpersonal skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
Cloud computing in Microsoft Azure including Power BI solution architecture, data lake storage techniques and strategies and ETL using Synapse/Data Factory.
Experience implementing source/version control in SSIS.
Practical experience working with the Epic EHR and their Clarity and Caboodle analytic platforms.
