Overview This hourly rate for this position is $18.90 and is non-negotiable.
This Statement of Work covers the need for the services of undergraduate college students to provide technical and analytical support for an Invasive Flora Adaptive Eradication Program on military installations in San Diego County. The purpose of this project is to develop information on the life history and ecology of target invasive plants, such as bridal veil broom (Genista monosperma). Information developed can include seed ecology (seed viability, scarification and maximum depth of seed emergence of an invasive plant), dispersal mechanisms (primary and secondary dispersal), reproductive success, impacts to soil microbiology, etc.
Responsibilities The Undergraduate III will assist with:
Assist with invasive flora field work (i.e. surveying for invasive plants or collecting environmental samples).
Process environmental samples in the university lab (SDSU) and record data about samples.
Complete data entry and data analysis using Microsoft Excel and appropriate statistical software.
Conducting relevant literature searches pertaining to the studies and participating in report preparation.
Qualifications Undergraduate Student 3: Must have course work in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work. The student must be at the Senior level and have experience in 100% of the task requirements and be able to accomplish 90% of the work independently.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Biology or Environmental Science Major (Junior or Senior)
Required Course Work:
Principles of Organismal Biology
Ecology and Environment
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous work in a greenhouse setting.
Knowledge of irrigation systems.
Knowledge of plant growth and maintenance.
ADDITIONAL APPLICANT INFORMATION:
This position will require the employee to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Due to the regulations established by the Department of Defense, only US Citizens may qualify.
This is a student position and is limited to working 20 hours per week
This position will remain open until filled.
Candidate must reside in California and live within a commutable distance to work site.
