Associate Director of Masters Programs
The Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy harnesses the University's broad disciplinary excellence in public policy, along with its innovative teaching, research, and engagement programs, to solve pressing global challenges. Enrollment representatives within Cornell's colleges, schools, and units regularly collaborate and partner with the Enrollment Division to accomplish the University's enrollment goals.

As the Associate Director of Master's Programs, you will not only be a leader but also a team player. Reporting to the Brooks Assistant Dean for Enrollment and Student Services, you will deliver a comprehensive recruitment, admissions, and advising model for professional graduate students. You will supervise several full-time graduate admission and student services staff members and collaborate closely with staff peers, including the Brooks Registrar, Associate Director of Career Management, and program leadership, to support approximately 300 residential professional graduate students in the Brooks School as well as prospective students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for advising and student services for Brooks masters students, including new student onboarding and collaboration on orientation activities, one-on-one and group advising interactions, and coordination with the Brooks Registrar and Associate Director of Career Management. Serves as internal and external liaison for matters impacting the master's programs and their students.
- Drives innovative and high-quality recruiting plans and admissions processes for the master's programs. Works with the Brooks Marketing and Communications team to generate interest in and applications for the master's program.
- Develops and implements best-in-class strategies to manage the admissions funnel, including using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools and data analysis/reporting.
- Directly supervises several staff to support advising and program management tasks and application processing. Indirectly works with other administrative and transactional staff in the broader team and will supervise admissions readers and student workers.
This is an exempt Contract College position based in Ithaca, NY. The position will be a 4:1 campus-to-home hybrid work arrangement during the academic year. This position follows a 3:2 campus-to-home hybrid work arrangement during breaks and the summer. This hybrid work arrangement is subject to change at any time. Typical work hours are 8 am-4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience with recruiting and advising professional graduate students and managing graduate admissions processes and program activities, including conducting information sessions, onboarding, and orientations.
- Computer proficiency and aptitude for application management systems and communications-related technologies, including CRM, social media, virtual presentation software, etc.
- Proactive, flexible, team-oriented, and student/customer service focused with ability to use sound judgment, act with discretion, and maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation, group facilitation, and relationship-building skills to work effectively with stakeholders, prospective master's applicants, faculty, alumni, and administration.
- Effective writing skills (across multiple platforms).
- Strong analytical and Excel skills to conduct data analysis, reporting and program evaluations using various tools, systems, and databases to enhance offerings.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and project management skills to lead teams, prioritize work, and devise and execute work plans within time constraints.
- Ability to advocate for individuals of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds.
- Experience in and demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and well-being.
- Demonstrated skill in the understanding of cultural differences.
- Proven experience connecting diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing practices to business goals.
- Ability to travel occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree or equivalent.
- Experience developing and implementing graduate or undergraduate university, college, or school recruiting plans, admissions processes and advising models.
- Experience with marketing and communications for higher education programs, particularly advanced degree programs.
- Experience with CRM and application management systems (e.g. CollegeNet, Salesforce)
- Experience supervising, managing, training, and evaluating administrative staff and/or student employees.
