We are looking for an Information Security I applicant with a drive for discovery and cybersecurity problem solving perseverance. If you have those attributes this may be the right position for you. Directly reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer, you will join a very capable, customer-oriented team that performs a range of security roles on campus from security awareness to security operations, vulnerability management, security consulting, threat research, forensic investigations and more. Duties/Physical Demands:
As a member of the Miami team, you will be a part of our efforts to provide the best cybersecurity protections and posture through active research, discovery, collaboration, and teamwork. Key Duty Categories: • Perform documented information security processes under general direction and with oversight from other team members. • As directed, research information security topics, tools, techniques, and threats. • Learn procedures, contacts, etc. for handling service requests, incident resolution (both hardware and software), etc. for services. • Participate in change management processes. • Prioritize information security issues and work on multiple tasks concurrently. • Actively promote a customer-oriented approach throughout IT Services and with our University colleagues. • Perform other related duties as required or assigned. • Monitor existing tickets and manage resolution. • Analyze system, activity, and network logs to identify root cause. • Work to find answers. Understand available tools and resources to determine correct answers to cybersecurity issues. • May occasionally teach one credit bearing course, per semester, on an as needed basis.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree. OR • One year of relevant experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above may be substituted. Experience in these knowledge, skills, and abilities may be earned concurrently.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. • Prior experience with information security concepts, methodologies, and processes. • Prior experience with network security concepts, methodologies, processes, and tools. • Prior experience with application security concepts, methodologies, processes, and tools. • Prior experience with security awareness security concepts, methodologies, processes, and tools. • Prior experience with information risk assessment and mitigation concepts, methodologies, processes, and tools. • Prior experience with forensics concepts, methodologies, processes, and tools. • Prior experience with compliance concepts, methodologies, processes, and tools. • Prior service in an information security role in Higher education. • Strong organizational skills. • Demonstrated ability to create and contribute to an inclusive work environment. • Ability to prioritize assignments and work on multiple assignments concurrently. • Strong customer service skills including the ability to constructively, diplomatically, patiently, and successfully handle customer complaints, problems, questions, conflict, and suggestions. • Good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences including end users and clients. • Ability to communicate with diplomacy. • Ability and willingness to work independently or as part of a team, while embracing the team environment of IT Services. • Ability and necessary knowledge to determine the cause of problems and generate solutions to those problems.
