Job Summary: The Department of Surgery, Division of Transplantation is looking for a highly motivated, hard-working, and talented Scientist to help lead studies of stem cell-derived insulin-producing islets for the treatment of diabetes. The lab is undertaking many exciting projects. The laboratory team seeks to understand the mechanisms underlying the differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells into mature functional islets at a level similar to primary islets. We are also aiming to develop methods to improve the engraftment of the cells after transplantation by combining the stem cell-islets with ECM components and vascular cells to produce islet organoids. For this project, we are working with Drs. Sean Palecek and William Murphy
