The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at Rutgers University is pleased to announce its search for one outstanding tenure-track faculty (Assistant/ Associate Professor) with a start date of Fall 2023. The ISE Department is seeking dynamic and engaging candidates who can bring diverse intellectual, geographical, gender and ethnic perspectives to the work and campus communities the School of Engineering (SoE) at Rutgers University.
Candidates are sought whose work contributes to advancements at the cross section of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) with operations research and engineering for applications in manufacturing, sustainable energy, and industries supporting healthcare. Candidates with expertise in artificial intelligence, data science and analytics, stochastic systems, optimization or engineering sciences are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates must have interests and strong research contributions in at least one of the following areas: automation and AI-enabled decision and control sciences, robotics and autonomous systems, human-machine systems, advanced simulations and/or reliability and resilience.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in the engineering or sciences by the employment start date and should have excellent verbal and written communication skills. A successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, as well as participate in multidisciplinary research and projects. Candidates will be required to teach courses in engineering, and as such are expected to adopt innovative educational practices as they develop and teach courses for graduate and undergraduate students; advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students; participate in local and external service activities and assist the department to establish sustainable industry partnerships in research and teaching. The preferred rank of the available position is Assistant Professor, though applications at higher ranks will be considered for applicants with exceptional records.
