Under the direction and management of the Assistant Dean for Information Technology (ADIT), the IT Security Analyst will maintain and enhance the information security posture of the Adams School of Dentistry by planning, coordinating and implementing security measures to prevent unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure of information. This position will proactively assess potential risk and vulnerabilities and develop solutions to mitigate risk. This position is responsible for performing security scans on servers, applications and other computer equipment and working to remediate vulnerabilities.
The IT Security Analyst will work with the ADIT and HIPAA Security Officer and other UNC Information Security professionals to respond to school cyber security incidents and perform application and systems access control auditing as needed. This position will create and maintain the school's security training and awareness effort, and provide security awareness training to faculty, staff and students. This position will monitor trends and logs and propose security changes to the ADIT to protect school data.
Working in conjunction with the ADIT and the University IT Risk Office, this position will create and conduct risk, system and application assessments. This position will review new IT projects, systems and applications for compliance to statewide or University security policies or standards. This position will work with the ADIT and other University staff to establish and maintain disaster recovery programs and business continuity planning.
Education and Experience:
Experience in higher education using vulnerability scanning software and security information and event management platforms to analyze machine data and identify threats. Experience with Linux, Linux security tools and shell scripting. Experience with Windows Servers, PowerShell, Active Directory and VMWare.
