Job Description:
Kansas City University College of Dental Medicine seeks a Director of Educational Learning Technology as full-time staff for a new dental school in Joplin, Missouri. Reporting to the Director of Pre-doctoral Education, the incumbent will be responsible for project management and operations in the development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of learning technologies and educational media. The Director of Educational Learning Technology will work with faculty in educating them in the use of new educational technology to facilitate learning, teaching excellence and the assessment of students. The College will educate students to be primary care clinicians. The incumbent must be motivated and engaged to help build an innovative and dynamic dental medicine program, educating the next generation of dentists.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Candidates must demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning excellence, be able to champion the exploration, adoption, integration, maintenance and evaluation of learning technologies and educational media platforms. Candidates should also demonstrate and contribute to a positive, engaging, innovative and solution-oriented collaborative team.
The Director of Educational Learning Technology is expected to achieve the following, but not limited to:
- Provide evidence informed consultation, education, design, and support to faculty and staff on learning technologies, and educational media use
- Lead the planning, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of the learning technologies and educational media in use for deploying blended or online learning
- Maintain up-to-date on the latest versions and uses of learning technologies, educational media, commonly used software to create media in higher education, copyright practices, University policy, and other relevant regulations and legislation to ensure compliance
- Design, execute, and evaluate policies, procedures, materials and resources to support staff and faculty in using educational technologies
- Actively participate in interdepartmental/ interdisciplinary teams, on committees, and at KCU events
- Evaluate online learning systems, online and in-class learning technologies and educational media software and equipment
- Make recommendations to CDM leadership on acquisitions
Other tasks as assigned by supervising faculty. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to contribute to and participate in a humanistic environment of learning and discovery. Candidates should be highly motivated to be part of the development and growth of a new dental school. Applicants are expected to contribute to the education of dental students and professional enrichment activities for faculty.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have a Master's in Education or in a related field and/or equivalent of education and experience.
Preferred:
- A minimum of three years' experience in planning, managing, and supporting the use of online learning systems, technologies, and development of educational media
- Appropriate experience in educational/ faculty development with demonstrated ability to consult with, educate, and support educators in higher education
- Demonstrated experience with curriculum mapping program and course design, development, and delivery in a variety of modes
- Experience in designing interactive learning experiences using current learning management systems
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development in educational technologies to maintain currency in practice, principles, and theories, as well as emerging trends
- Demonstratable ability to effectively serve as a member of a leadership team in a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary, and collaborative environment
- Demonstrated passion for teaching, enthusiasm for education, and a value to teach in a demanding, startup academic environment
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a way that exercises discretion, tact and confidentiality and maintains and enhances respectful and collaborative relationships
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative, resourceful, collaborative, and adaptive.
- Possess analytical reasoning, planning, project management, administrative, customer service, and organizational skills
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- High proficiency with learning technologies for example learning management systems, assessment systems, e-portfolios etc.
