The Impact You'll Make in this Role
A Insight Specialist is responsible for managing the insights activities for business teams (Marketing, R&D, Design, etc.) to inform business decisions. This individual will help teams define their business questions, scope the research/learning plan objectives, manage the execution of that plan and synthesize the resulting data/findings to formulate insights and make strategic recommendations regarding the business decision.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Guides business teams to the appropriate research objectives for a consumer/customer learning plan to address the most important business questions
- Recommends creative research solutions and designs learning plan to meet agreed upon business objectives
- Consults with business teams to identify key questions and identify knowledge gaps that require new insights to maximize opportunity and reduce investment risk
- Identify and understand business group/Division needs and define requirements/questions to be answered by data/insights
- Manages all phases of research projects from design through delivery of recommendations, including developing and managing the budget and managing the execution of research by outside vendors
- Conducts detailed analyses to interpret data and synthesizes multiple data points to understand the target audience(s)
- Synthesizes multiple sources of information into insights and recommendations that inform a business decision
- Brings knowledge of Insights and knowledge about the business to identify opportunities in the market and inform decision-making, advancing the impact of voice of the customer
- Align and collaborate across organizations to implement best practices for marketing insights
- Actively monitor market trends/innovations and integrate into team strategy to maintain relevance and stay competitive
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Five (5) years of experience in marketing and/or marketing consulting and/or insights and analytics
- Proven strategy development experience
- Proven facilitation skills
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Experience conducting research in B2B or other highly technical industries
- MBA or graduate studies in analytics/insights field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- International management and collaboration experience
- Executional skills and background
- Ability to pull together a story and make it actionable
- Strong project management and organization skills
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Comfort with ambiguity
Travel: May include up to 20%
