Job Description: What We Are Looking For
The GIS & CAFM Manager supports the Director of Space Planning & Interior Design and is responsible for understanding the technical aspects of managing the campus mapping in GIS along with the CAFM system and maintains accurate square footage necessary in achieving the University's goals. The CAFM system is the database for tracking all University owned and leased space and this person must have experience with SQL in the development of reports and dashboards. This role supports the University's strategic initiatives, including academic strategic planning, data governance, interoperability, spatial utilization and reporting, and the University's space locations in Ignite.
A Bachelor of science in Geography or a similar discipline, five years relevant experience, and a Christian faith are required. A Master's degree and seven years of relevant work are preferred. Experience will not be accepted in lieu of the educational requirement. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
The successful candidate will also possess the following:
Proven work experience as a GIS technician
CAFM/IWMS experience is required (with FM: Systems is preferred)
Advanced computer programming and data analysis skills
Proficient in AutoCAD Microsoft SQL or similar reporting software to write and edit reports for FM: Interact
Experience in architecture and understand building design and construction documentation
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365; specifically, SharePoint and PowerBI
Preference given to experience in creating dashboards and exporting data for strategic planning purposes Ability to understand technical problems and resolve them or communicate issues to technical support
Have excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills
Familiarity with working in a higher education environment is preferred
A valid driver's license
What You Will Do
Applies knowledge and skills of related fields such as civil engineering, geography, remote sensing, computerscience, etc. combined with skills to plan, design, evaluate, construct, research, modify, and develop mappingproducts, systems, and technology
Develops, maintains, and supports software and databases necessary for architectural, engineering, and campusmanagement practices including facilities management, environmental management, site plan development,utilities design and maintenance, architectural floorplans, existing conditions mapping, future developmental plans,emergency response systems, inventory real property management, and other planning systems
Assists Facilities Management (FM) team members in updating, maintaining, and gathering data and providingspatial analytics for capital planning, campus improvements, and strategic initiatives
Is proficient in using AutoCAD and maintains and manages the ArcGIS Enterprise system
Collects and oversees University assets for GIS apps and maps and facilitates any changes in GIS related to Facilitiesand Operations
Designs, codes, and manages reporting and analytical functions for space utilization studies and reports asrequested by senior leadership
Serves as the primary interface with the CAFM integration vendor/ partner leading procurement and upgradeefforts, and obtaining system troubleshooting assistance as needed
Works with the FM staff to maintain digital plans, PDF's, scanned drawings, digital files and information of allbuildings, and current and past projects
Works with the service provider who manages the CMMS to keep up to date space changes
Works alongside the GIS & CAFM Specialist and assists in the bi-directional pull from the Record Drawing Files toensure accurate building names, room names, numbers, departments, and FICM codes
Directs 3rd party space management professionals during space allocation studies and audits
Works with Baylor ITS to ensure the system, software, and security are properly aligned with Baylor protocol
Works with the Director of Space Planning & Interior Design to provide spatial analysis, data, and documentation insupport of plan development as requested
Assists in training administrative users on the space management system to accurately audit, record, track, andreport space allocations
Works with the Office of Vice President for Research (OVPR) to define and specify the process of data collection,analysis and dissemination of data related to research grants, funding, and principal investigators as they relate tospace and funding
Works with the GIS & CAFM Specialist to verify University space, manage data integrity and accuracy for all research,academic, administrative, and auxiliary spaces
Maintains electronic data integrity and shares data as requested by departments for space surveys
Provides information on space and square footage to Financial Services for the F&A Rate (indirect cost savings)
Applies new methods to solve complex, intricate, and/or unprecedented issues related to GIS & CAFM
Keeps abreast of emerging technologies to ensure project programming will not prematurely become obsolete
