The Web Content Publisher is responsible for overseeing the successful identification and fulfillment of all web related content throughout the project life cycle. Collaborating closely with the Information Architect, as well as other key project stakeholders, the web content publisher is critical to defining the content needs of websites and applications.
The Web Content Publisher is responsible for the day-to-day administration of Colonial Life's content management system. This includes overseeing the content inventory and collection process as well as assuring that all web content is accurately categorized and tagged. Additionally, this role coordinates and oversees the content contributor workflow process and provides technical assistance to the system's users.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
3-5 years experience in web content development with a focus on web delivery and content management.
Knowledge of multiple business disciplines and supporting software systems.
Very experienced with Sitecore CMS
Ability to write in various styles and address different audiences.
Ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
Understanding and appreciation of basic web design principles.
Ability to engage with business areas and subject matter experts to understand and identify web content needs.
Experience using a content management system and participating in a content workflow.
Ability to understand and read logical data models.
Basic understanding of HTML and CSS.
Knowledge and experience using the Adobe Creative Suite.
Ability to conduct presentations for large and small audiences.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Online Content Publishing
Publishes live web content to all of Colonial Life's content managed websites.
Assists business areas with preparing and developing their content for web distribution.
Provides editorial oversight and ensures content complies with corporate brand standards, style guidelines, and legal and compliance directives.
Maintains voice by site and audience and recognizes the appropriate touch points between sites.
Assures web based content is archived for future needs and reference.
Provides level one technical support for content management users.
Assists with home office content management user training.
Troubleshoots design and layout problems using basic HTML and CSS.
Assigns security roles to users using the content management admin console.
Works cross functionally with business units to resolve defects.
Technical Solution Management
Advises users on the content management system's "tree structure" and ensures that the integrity of the structure is maintained.
Recognizes the limits and scope of Colonial Life's content management system, including the integration touch points with other web properties including Unum's assets.
Serves as the Subject Matter Expert on Colonial Life's workflow process.
Works closely with our business contributors to manage web content through workflows.
Understands the rights and/or permissions of all user roles within the workflow process.
Coordinates and manages the content expiration/review/audit/deletion procedure(s).
Analysis and Reporting
Analyzes, manages and distributes website metrics and utilization data using Google Analytics or similar reporting solutions.
Creates and implements taxonomies and metadata frameworks for grouping and tagging content.
Develops content indexes and mapping documentation for new site development.
Verifies effectiveness of web based solutions through web analytics and end user feedback.
Uses analytics to inform content priorities and verify architectural models.
Partnering, Teamwork and Initiative
Proactively develops and maintains cooperative and productive working relationships with internal stakeholders across multiple business areas.
Partners closely with a team of Information Architects, Designers, Project Managers, Subject Matter Experts and Writers to create an optimal content experience.
Organizes tasks efficiently to meet deliverables on time; notifies management when schedules cannot be met; recommends and implements alternatives and/or options to minimize delay.
Acts with the appropriate sense of urgency to achieve successful results.
Adapts and works effectively within a rapidly changing business and technical environment.
Promotes the benefits of change.
Performs other duties as assigned.
