The Manager, Investor Relations (IR) and Treasury will manage a wide range of initiatives and recurring and special projects in support of National MI (NMI)’s investor relations and treasury management efforts. This position will regularly collaborate with planning and analytics, accounting and external reporting, as well as legal, risk, marketing and other departments. The position will build ongoing relationships with external constituencies such as rating agency analysts, securities analysts and investors, and will work with business partners such as NMI’s external investment manager, banks, IR services vendors and auditors.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Investor and Rating Agency Relations
Manage and develop presentations for investor marketing, rating agencies and board reporting.
Organize and manage NMI’s response to ratings agency annual surveys and reviews.
Manage review and approval of IR materials, including tie-outs with accounting and legal sign-off.
Lead all preparations for quarterly earnings announcements, including developing first drafts of press releases and script outlines for management review.
Respond to information requests from investors and analysts.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of competitor and industry information.
Analyze and synthesize competitor, sector and market information, including competitors’ financial results, metrics related to the housing finance market, and interest rates.
Prepare written briefings for management summarizing analysis of competitive, market and regulatory developments, earnings reports and analyst comments related to peer companies.
Maintain contact management database of IR contacts and events, such as non-deal roadshows and conferences; track when contacts become investors.
Maintain detailed summary of analyst models and track expectations relative to company forecasts. Be a frequent point of contact and build relationships with analysts covering the company.
Monitor and report on shareholder movements.
Manage the IR website.
Manage the IR calendar; coordinate schedules with external and internal participants along with logistics for investor conferences, meetings and other related events.
Develop and maintain investor targeting lists and track targeting activity.
Collaborate with team members on various projects as needed.
Monitor daily purchase and credit activity in NMI’s fixed income bond portfolio; alert management to credit events or unusual purchase activity.
Participate in periodic portfolio reviews and quarterly OTTI discussions.
Prepare the quarterly Investment Portfolio presentation for the Risk Committee of the Board.
Maintain a projection model for interest income and coordinate/integrate with FP&A forecast.
Develop and maintain a liquidity projection model. Propose strategies to reduce idle cash balances.
Manage treasury risk controls and documentation; respond to information requests from internal and external auditors.
Provide ad hoc assistance as needed.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 6 years relevant business experience is required. Finance experience, preferably in the capital markets, accounting or FP&A, preferred.
Must have experience in project management, analytical, and organizational work.
Excellent computer skills are required; must have excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Capital markets experience desired.
Attention to detail and the highest standards for accuracy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must have a demonstrated ability to work effectively individually, as well as in teams.
Ability to work independently under general direction with latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
