The Attending Physician IX (Hematology) provides clinical care for patients with hematologic diseases in the inpatient and outpatient setting of the Cook County Health & Hospitals System (CCHHS). Responsible for diagnosis and treatment of hematology patients, providing continuity of care for such patients, and enrolling patients in clinical trials, when appropriate. Participates in quality assurance programs for the Hematology/Oncology division.
* Attending Physician in hematology and hematologic oncology outpatient services
* Attending Physician for inpatient hematology consult services in rotation with other Attending Physicians (Hematology) in the Hematology/Oncology division as assigned
* Supervision and training of hematology/oncology subspecialty fellows
* Supervision and training of rotating residents and medical students
* Supervision and collaboration with hematology/oncology nurse clinicians
* Supervision of Infusion Center chemotherapy nursing staff
* Participation in divisional academic activities
* Enrollment of appropriate patients in clinical trials
* Participation on hospital and departmental committees with performance of committee work as assigned
* Maintenance of accurate and timely medical records
* Accurate and timely completion of billing encounter forms
* Performs other duties as specified/assigned by the Hematology/Oncology Division Chair.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine (DO) from an accredited college or university
Must be licensed as a physician in the State of Illinois (or have the ability to obtain license prior to employment)
Federal DEA license (or have the ability to obtain license prior to employment)
State of Illinois controlled substance license (or have the ability to obtain license prior to employment)
ABIM subspecialty board eligibility/board certification in Hematology (or have the ability to obtain license prior to employment)
Experience in diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant hematologic disorders
Experience in bone marrow and stem cell transplant
Experience with Cerner electronic medical records
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
Excellent clinical and technical skills necessary to evaluate and mentor fellows and residents
Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary to communicate with a diverse student and patient population, educational administrators and all levels of personnel within a highly complex health care system.

Must successfully meet the credentialing standards established by the Cook County Health and Hospitals System to include a State of Illinois MD license and any other license, certification, or specialized training, etc. no later than two (2) weeks prior to the candidate's start date
