Department Overview
OPERATIONAL RISK CONTROL TEAM supports Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Program Management, execution, data/quality assurance, gap remediation and production activities to meet the objectives of Operational Risk Strong Foundations & Risk TOS Initiatives. As the Business Process Risk Management (BPRM) program is so tightly integrated with the SHRP RCSA model, support of BPRM Compile & Stratify and Analyze & Remediate processes is also supported by this team. Including Operational Risk Events related information and life cycle.
About the Role Use of this job is restricted to Control Executive groups with Front Line Risk Management. The Business Risk and Control team is responsible for partnering with the relevant business group to identify, assess, manage and mitigate current and emerging risk exposures associated with their activities and operations. Monitors, measures, evaluates, and reports on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group and enterprise function. Provides guidance to business groups on the development, implementation, and monitoring of business-specific programs to identify, assess, and mitigate risk. Provides support in the interpretation of policy, guidelines, and governance programs as front line liaison to Independent Risk Management area for low to moderate risk and complexity enterprise risk programs. Supports business in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes and controls that mitigate risks and address regulatory requirements. Develops and implements risk monitoring and risk reporting processes and controls. Monitors and reports on its risk concentration, current and emerging risk, and risk appetite. Aggregates, evaluates, reports results and escalates where necessary. Designs and executes control effectiveness assurance programs for Front Line-owned controls. Supports and implements initiatives with low to moderate risk. Internal interaction with team to support identification, management and mitigation of business-specific risk programs. Limited to no external interaction. Works independently; does not manage other team members.
Market Skills and Certifications
Responsibilities- Ideal candidate should possess in depth knowledge of Operational Risk Events life cycle with exposure to Wealth and Investment lines of businesses.
- Develops and implements risk monitoring and risk reporting processes that align with company-wide risk programs. Monitors and reports on its risk concentration, current and emerging risk, and risk appetite. Aggregates the results of its monitoring efforts (as part of its self-assurance activities reporting routines), evaluates findings, reports on results and escalates where necessary.
- Designs and executes a control effectiveness assurance program for Front Line-owned controls.
- Proactively creates and adapts strategies in line with Risk Appetite and adjusts business activities when required or accepts risk.
- Should possess good problem solving and decision making skills and be able to propose solution to the situation presented.
- Must have strong time management skills and the demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Essential Qualifications- Graduate (10+2+3) in any discipline with excellent academic track record from any reputed University/College
- 8+ years of experience in risk (includes compliance, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management demonstrated through work or military) or 3+ year in the foregoing or financial services industry and a BS/BA degree or higher in business or a related field .
- Meaningful knowledge of the enterprise risk management framework, including: risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance.
- End to end management of Operational Risk Events is preferred.
