At Wells Fargo, we want to satisfy our customers' financial needs and help them succeed financially. We're looking for talented people who will put our customers at the center of everything we do. Join our diverse and inclusive team where you'll feel valued and inspired to contribute your unique skills and experience.
Help us build a better Wells Fargo. It all begins with outstanding talent. It all begins with you.
Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.
Model Risk is responsible for independently overseeing the management of model risk exposures (including monitoring design or coding errors and appropriate model usage) and the quality of model risk management practices across the company. This oversight extends throughout the end-to-end model lifecycle including model identification, risk ranking, development, validation, implementation, usage, and monitoring.
At Wells Fargo, Model Risk responsibilities include:
Ensuring models are developed, implemented, and maintained in adherence to model risk policies that optimize the risk level to the bank.
Advising, providing subject matter expertise, and supporting model developers in Model Development Centers of Excellence and in the business, line-of-business Model Risk Governance, and model owners.
Providing governance and policy framework for model risk management.
Independently evaluating and validating models used throughout the company.
Providing leadership in developing quantitative resources, both people and technology.
Model Risk at Wells Fargo places a strong emphasis in thought leadership and has pioneered the usage of Machine Learning and AI techniques to assess all aspects of model risk: data quality and bias, replication development models, assessing their assumptions and limitations, and developing benchmark models to challenge performance, interpretability, contributing a substantial amount of novel techniques to the field. You can see some of our latest papers in Arxiv.
We have more than 150 quants and data scientists who validate a variety of models in credit and operational risks as well as capital markets. We provide an exciting and diverse environment where you'll have the ability to work on interesting and challenging problems, using traditional as well as cutting-edge techniques to assess model risks. You'll also have the opportunity to use your problem-solving, organizational and communications skills to build your career.
You will be working at the intersection of Data Science & AI/ML Research, Technology, and Quantitative Modeling, contributing to the development of the most advanced model risk platform in the industry, developing novel methodologies, building fully operational prototypes, and deploying them in partnership with our Technology partners. Our lines of work include large scale distributed model training and optimization, 'smart models' and data pipelines, and AI-driven model risk management (e.g. machine validation). In addition to that, you will be contributing to the design and evolution of our computing infrastructure, which includes traditional 'big data' computing clusters, specialized GPU-computing clusters, and quantum computing infrastructure, as well as providing guidance to the broader Model Risk community on best engineering practices to run modeling and analysis at scale.
