Job Summary : 3M | M*Modal is looking for a passionate and talented Engineer to tackle the time-consuming documentation and data entry process in healthcare. This candidate will do this by contributing to our Artificial Intelligence systems which translates words into actions. A successful candidate will work with a talented team of researchers and engineers on improving patient care through creating time to care by advancing our virtual assistant and documentation workflow.

The ideal candidate is familiar with research methodologies, devising, implementing and evaluating algorithms and large-scale systems. S/he has experience in one or several of the following fields: Applied Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Large-Scale Systems. S/he also shows passionate about new technologies and answering customers' needs.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Architecting and building the core integration platform
• Mentoring Engineers
• Communicating status with management
• Develop software components based on requirements, architecture and design specifications
• Work with other software architects, software engineers, quality engineers, and other team members to design and build required systems
• Adhere to team design and coding procedures and standards
• Help resolve escalated customer support issues
• Interact with customers to resolve operational problems and determine customer requirements
• Actively participates in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complies with professional and quality standards complies with corporate policies and procedures, and acts in a manner consistent with 3M's values and ethical standards.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited university OR High School Diploma/GED or higher from an accredited institution and a minimum of eleven (11) years of experience in software development in lieu of the bachelor's degree education requirement
• Five (5) years of experience in the Software Engineering field

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Master's degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Computer Linguistics, Mathematics or related field, or related industry experience
• 3+ years of experience with underlying Machine Learning techniques, Deep Learning, and algorithm development
• 3+ years of software development experience
• 3+ years of experience in state-of-the-art machine learning and statistical modeling techniques
• 5+ years of combined academic and research experience
• Experience in building natural language processing systems.
• Solid Machine Learning background and familiar with Natural Language Processing techniques.
• Solid software development experience and problem-solving skills
• Experience with deep learning toolkits and frameworks
• Good written and spoken communication skills
• Publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
• Experience in programming languages like Python and Java
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to solve problems in a logical, methodical, and time efficient manner
• Ability to direct and influence others

Travel: Occasional travel may be required.

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized.
