Department: IT Security - 55300 Brief Summary of Work for this position: UNCW is a leading employer in our industry and the coastal region. We’re now hiring an IT Security Analyst to keep our university growing. If you would like to be part of this team, the IT Security department is the right place for you. The primary responsibility of this position involves day to day security operations for information security. This role will participate in incident and event management, assist with endpoint countermeasures and control, as well as client engagements. The IT Security Analyst position will work with complex monitoring systems and will provide 24×7 security services as necessary. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or an Information Security degree or closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in IT Security or closely related area; or an Associate's degree in Information Systems Security from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in IT Security or closely related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, and project management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships within a team environment
- Demonstrated understanding of security and controls
- Technical knowledge and experience with log and event analysis using network and security tools and techniques
- Demonstrated understanding of incident handling and response for security events
- Ability to identify common vulnerabilities and related attack vectors, and risks
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience : - Associated Certifications:
- E|CIH: Certified Incident Handler
- E|CEH: Certified Ethical Hacker
- GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA)
(if not currently certified, ability to work toward certification)
Required Certifications or Licensure: - At least one of the following:
- CompTIA Security+
- GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)
- Equivalent Education Cyber Security Course completion (or comparable work experience)
