The Information Services Department at SUNY Downstate is seeking a full-time Senior Systems Administrator/EHR. The successful candidate will:
Install and maintain centralized Citrix application presentation systems.
Install, configure and maintain server operating systems in on-premise AD and Azure AD cloud-based environments.
Design, implement, configure, and maintain Azure Cloud solutions for company applications and services.
Support in analyzing and migrating workloads to the cloud using delivered or vendor-provided solutions.
Monitor and manage system resources, capacity, and response times to maintain operating efficiency.
Manage, support, and maintain VMWare virtual server environments.
Work with the Security and Compliance team to create, document, apply and monitor company standards and generally accepted security best practices across environments.
Communicate with management & project staff on such matters as budget, departmental IT requirements, policies & procedures, project status, new programs, etc., within time frames specified.
Oversees the 3rd party system integrators and subcontractors. Possess the ability to bridge information systems technology to users
Resolves software related problems
Performs system backups/ images and recovery
Monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity
Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and system administration procedures
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
Works under immediate supervision, reports to a manager
Diagnose and resolve complex problems involving servers, storage
Ability to work proficiently in UNIX and Windows operating systems environments
Create user accounts and maintain security levels
Knowledge of Cisco UCS Servers, Vmware, Windows Servers (Standard, Enterprise), Active Directory Services (ADS), Microsoft Clustering, Disaster Recovery technologies, Microsoft Azure.
Knowledge of Citrix Virtual Apps and Citrix Netscaler.
Applying operating systems updates, and configuration changes
Installing and configuring new hardware/software
Answering technical queries
Responsibility for documenting the configuration of the system
Troubleshooting any reported problems
System performance tuning
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
A minimum of 4 years of experience in computer support services in the Healthcare industry and solid experience with Windows/Linux/Unix operating systems.
Excellent teamwork and teambuilding skills
Ability to work off-hours and weekends
Working knowledge in Citrix Virtual Apps, Desktops and Netscaler ADC
Working knowledge in public cloud platforms (Azure/Aws)
Knowledge of Allscripts SCM is desirable (Other EMR systems)
VMware experience a desirable plus
Backup software (Avamar/Acronis) is highly desirable
Excellent interpersonal, written, and/or communication, analytical, team building management, and organizational skills with creative approaches to information systems issues and problems.
A demonstrated record of bringing together diverse functions and build effective teams involving all categories of health care employees is a plus.
