Lead Operations Analyst, Mathematician, Operations Research Analyst
Alion Science and Technology is selecting qualified candidates with diverse backgrounds in Applied Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Operations Research, and Test and Evaluation to support the Scientific Test and Analysis Techniques Center of Excellence (STAT COE), located at Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. This position is located at Hill Air Force Base, UT.
This position provides technical test planning support and leadership support to the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program in the form of rigorous test design planning and analysis. The program is striving to optimize data collection efficiently through simulation, ground test, and flight testing to include performance and reliability.
The ideal candidate has experience in test and evaluation, acquisition, and statistics, but candidates with any of these backgrounds should consider a position on this dynamic team.
A technical knowledge in the areas of design of experiments, space filling designs, reliability methods, and basic statistics is desired. The candidate will ensure test analysis informs later testing and collected data validates previous assumptions so the use of statistics and related methods is critical.
We are at the forefront of applying advanced statistical techniques to T&E and are constantly exploring new methodologies. Your desire to continually improve and self-educate is a must to succeed in this dynamic work environment.
The STAT COE provides tremendous professional growth opportunities to improve your technical knowledge, hone your practical skills, and broaden your experience. The STAT COE is a collaborative and energetic workplace where members discuss challenges, work together to solve problems, and provide practical products to our customers.
STAT COE team members perform the following activities:
Interface with the Chief Developmental Tester and various test team leads to craft data collection strategies that employ efficient and effective designs to inform program decisions.
Provide statistical/T&E expertise to acquisition program and research projects.
Lead development of test strategies, technical test designs, and post-test analysis.
Employ various techniques and methods such as design of experiments, Bayesian analysis, regression modeling, and reliability planning
Employ statistical software (e.g. JMP, DesignExpert, R, Matlab or equivalent).
Communicate solutions to leadership orally and in writing, clearly and accurately.
Engage and mentor T&E practitioners in STAT processes and technical test design.
Support special studies for topics of interest to DoD senior leadership
Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance
MS (or higher) in statistics, applied mathematics, industrial engineering, operations research, engineering discipline, or similar field
Desired: Experience with Defense T&E
Desired: Experience with Defense Acquisition
Internal Number: 33470
