Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. The Private/Bus Ln Underwriter 4 partners with the Commercial Auto Relationship Manager to manage the largest and most complex client credit relationships.
This position is responsible for executing sound and consistent underwriting and account management of commercial loan risk while recognizing the need for a balanced commitment to loan, deposit and fee growth, relationship profitability, and customer retention and credit quality. The job entails the following activities:
Partner with Relationship Managers, Sr. Risk Management and numerous internal and external partners to achieve segment goals, communicate risk parameters for new potential deals, identify and cultivate selected prospects, and coordinate underwriting and closing procedures.
Underwrite large, complex commercial loans including private equity borrowers, syndications and participations.
Frequent strategic communication with CFOs and CEOs of large private and near public companies
Work independently to compile, analyze and document credit requests outlining credit risks, mitigants, borrower and property information, and coordinate all activity to support the credit approval process.
Execution of underwriting and structuring of commercial credit to meet client needs, using credit analytics, capital formation expertise, and sound business judgment.
Familiarity with reviewing a multitude of financial statements including CPA Audits/Reviews, factory forms, tax returns, pro-forma business statements and personal financial statements
Maintain feedback loop with clients, as well as Relationship Management, to monitor quality of customer service and meet closing deadlines.
Early identification of deteriorating credits developing action plans together with Sr. Risk and Relationship Management to mitigate the Bank's risk
Meet with clients/prospects to gather and analyze information and reach appropriate decisions regarding potential loan structures and approval
May perform research and analysis related to loan projects, such as industry studies and various management reports
6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: underwriting, financial analysis or deal structuring in financial services, private banking, corporate/investment banking, or capital markets
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Commercial loan experience
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
6+ years of commercial underwriting experience
6+ years of commercial banking experience
Knowledge and understanding of Wells Fargo Auto Commercial Loan Servicing systems or processes
Knowledge and understanding of auto finance industry
A BS/BA degree or higher
Other Desired Qualifications
Experience in all or most of the following: commercial underwriting, financial analysis, deal structuring in financial services, private banking, corporate/investment banking, and capital markets
Extensive commercial loan experience with involvement in syndications, participations and private equity transactions
Extensive knowledge and understanding of commercial loan underwriting or evaluating commercial credit including high complexity credits and loan structuring
