Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the IT/Informatics Manager of the CalCARES program, the Database Analyst and Administrator functions as a database analyst with primary responsibilities creation and fine tuning of reporting solutions to complex systems as well as support, development and maintaining of business intelligence tools and processes. This position does also serve as the secondary position in database administration duties. The Database Analyst and Administrator consults with users, management, operations, researchers, and other stakeholders on business needs. Translates business needs into analytics/reporting requirements, and designs, develops tests, and implements reporting and analytic solutions for moderate-to-complete requests/business problems using various tool sets. The : Database Analyst and Administrator is responsible for maintaining 50+ internal and external production reports needed to support the organization, and to develop new reports in support of continuous process improvement work efforts. Other responsibilities include; collaborating with end users to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and delivery, overseeing the ongoing development and operations of an operational data store and enterprise data warehouse; improving and streamlining processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, completeness, and timelines.
Required Qualifications
Intermediate experience with Crystal Reports, Microsoft SQL based databases, SQL Server, SQL Security.
Experience with Crystal Reports or MS SSRS (Reporting Services) programming.
Advanced knowledge of tools and environments; Microsoft SQL Server and its components (such as SSRS) and Crystal Reports
Experience with multi-dimensional cubes. Business Intelligence, Operational Data Store (ODS), online analytical processing (OLAP), reporting and analysis experience.
Familiarity working with large datasets.
Must be able to write complex SQL.
Experience with Microsoft SQL server BI stack (SSIS, SSAS & SSRS).
Experience with Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence principles and approaches.
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively with all business units.
Excellent written skills.
Planning and organizational skills.
Interact with and influence cross-functionally at all levels of the organization.
Motivated self-starter, strong attention to detail, able to multi-task and prioritize.
Proactive approach to problem solving.
Work in team environment with a moderate level of noise.
Preferred Qualifications
Solid Business Intelligence development experience with an enterprise level extract, transform, load (ETL) tool.
Experience with a front-end OLAP cube software (i.e. ProClarity).
Working knowledge of Data Warehouse methodologies.
Experience in data modeling and design.
Information Systems experience in systems analysis and programming with progressively more complex projects.
Experience with and knowledge of Use Case and Functional Specification development.
Experience with and knowledge of Microsoft Team Foundation Server.
Experience with Dimensional and Relational modeling.
Experience with SQL Scripting, Stored Procedures.
Experience with modeling tools a plus (i.e., ERWin, ER/Studio, Visio).
Experience with Performance Point dashboards and SharePoint.
Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc. development methodologies.
SharePoint experience/site maintenance.
Securing SQL databases.
Developing or strong understanding of disaster recovery solutions for data systems.
