JOBSUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works with various UTHSC technicalgroups to improve and ensure the security, integrity, and confidentiality ofUTHSC's clinical, research, and business data. Focuses on preventing,monitoring, detecting, identifying, containing, tracking, and remediating ITthreats and incidents across UTHSC platforms, applications, devices, andsystems.
Develops, installs, and upgrades security measures and controls for UTHSC data, including Enterprise cloud structures. Monitors security incidents and suspicious behavior/vulnerabilities. Defends when under attack.
Runs vulnerability scans and leverages automated tools, such as Tenable Security Center and LogRhythm SIEM.
Develops, recommends, coordinates, and manages implementation of information security solutions pertaining to academic, clinical, education, research, and business needs.
Works at a high technology-neutral level in all phases of design and implementation of information security solutions.
Assists in developing, testing, and implementing security procedures, products, and control techniques to prevent, detect, contain and correct security violations, including procedures for effective incident response, disaster recovery and business resumption.
Serves as a member of the Incident Response Team. Assists with the technical aspects of investigations.
Maintains current knowledge of information security trends, issues and current industry- wide practices including a thorough understanding of available technology, tools, systems and designs.
Analyzes and proposes information security approaches to improve the security posture of the UTHSC.
Assists with the testing and evaluation of new technologies and security controls.
Assists with performing vulnerability and security assessments, developing security standards and practices, and compliance efforts.
Creates trouble tickets for incident alerts that require incident response review.
Conducts penetration test to evaluate system security and manages/configures monitoring tools.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
