This position is an integral function in support of the University’s mission and focus on student success, academic persistence, increasing student retention and degree completion. Responsibilities include day-to-day engagement with students and the implementation of retention programming in support of the Student Success Division (SSD) and the Undergraduate Student Success Retention Plan for all undergraduate students—including College Credit Plus, Direct from High School, Transfer, military, non-traditional, and current students. In addition, the position supports a robust integrated approach connecting work efforts with all units that affect student success: including Financial Aid, the Registrar, Academic Advising, Foundation Studies, Tutoring, Math Learning Center, University Writing Center, Career Services, the University Center for International Education Center, Undergraduate and Transfer Admission, Raider Connect and the College Credit Plus program.
Master’s degree plus 3 or more years professional experience, OR
Bachelor’s degree plus 7 or more years in higher education experience
Proficient in MS Office and Internet
Excellent written, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, in addition to superior customer service abilities
Demonstrated ability to work on multiple diverse projects at the same and work autonomously
Must be able to maintain discretion in confidential matters.
Some evening and weekend hours required.
Higher education experience
Experience with student information systems desired
Experience designing, planning, developing programs and measuring outcomes for student services in an academic setting.
Essential Functions and percent of time::
Manage a cohort of students, with the identified retention outcomes;
Facilitate and implement a prescriptive holistic case management and intervention plan;
Work with academic and faculty advisors, residential life, and other student services units to ensure students are receiving applicable academic and social interventions;
Review Early Alert Reports and suggest recommendations in conjunction with all areas of the Student Success Division;
Coordinate and implement special projects aligned with University’s compelling priorities;
Create connections with students during the pre-enrollment period to include, but not limited to engagement via Orientation and Registration, Student Success and Academic Advising, Registrar and Bursar's offices.
Maintain accurate records and case management records and data tracking for each student under the Retention Group's guidance
Develop and implement a robust communication plan to facilitate outreach with each individual under their guidance
