Rutgers University-Newark, an urban, public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Career Counseling Officer for the Office of Career Management for the Rutgers Business School. Reporting directly to the Senior Director, RBS Office of Career Management at the Rutgers Business School. Located on the Livingston campus, the Career Counseling Officer performs career counseling, including individual and group career counseling to students in the Master of Financial Analysis Program (MFinA). The duties of the Career Counseling Officer includes but not limited to; -Works closely with the staff of the Master of Financial Analysis Program as well as the other career management offices at Rutgers Business School and the Rutgers University in New Brunswick and Newark. -Interfaces with the Office of International Student and Scholar Services. -Represents the program and RBS at external events. -Administers and interprets career assessment instruments, and designs and implements workshops that help MFinA students with their career management process. -Responsible for creating a curriculum and teaching a mandatory Career Management course that meets the needs of MFinA students. -Maintains and develops relationships with employers that recruit from the program. -Maintains relationships with the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute and local chapters such as the New York Society of Security Analysts. -Organizes networking events, seminars, and career fairs for program students. -Tracks and reports student success stories and career placement after graduation. -Travel among regional campuses is required. -Travel to industry and corporate events may be required. Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in business, counseling, human resources, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, and a minimum of two years' experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of career counseling theories and methodologies for individuals and groups.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Must have the appropriate qualifying education and/or experience to administer and interpret career assessment instruments. -Also requires outstanding communication skills and computer literacy. -Required open office hours one evening per week.
-Master's Degree in business, counseling or human resources is preferred. -Experience in working with the Financial Services field is preferred. -Outstanding communication and organization skills are preferred. -Experience with employment processes for international students is a plus. -Ability to read simplified Chinese and speak Mandarin is a plus.
Utilizes MS Office, Outlook and Career management system. Use Excel for data analysis and reporting. Adobe Publisher for flyer creation, advertising and branding.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
-Expected to attend networking and career related daytime and evening events in the tri-state area. -Also expected to travel to other Rutgers campuses when necessary for meetings and events. -Occasional weekends, evenings, and early mornings. -Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
