The Information Technology Security Analyst position is both a highly collaborative - working closely with the CIO, the IT Operations team, Technology, Directors and their staffs, and the Office of Compliance and one with significant individual responsibilities. Ensure that the Steinhardt IT environment is secure and that its practices fulfill College and NYU policies as related to IT security and protection of sensitive records, as well for meeting applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Manage the continuous improvement of the overall security posture of our information systems and our end-point computing environments in response to the changing technological, educational, and clinical environments; oversee IT activities and processes, and provide hands-on assistance in reviewing and re-engineering processes as appropriate. There are five main areas of focus for this position: Projects, Operations, Regulatory Posture, Incident Response, and Training/Awareness.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education: Relevant information security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM)
Required Experience: 5+ years Relevant experience in Information Security, IT Audit, or Compliance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience: Experience in security and compliance in a healthcare environment. Understanding of servers, storage, TCP/IP and network communications. Knowledge of SIEM systems, preferably ArcSight.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent communications, organizational, analytical, planning, and problem solving skills. Ability to conduct presentations and to provide technical advice to a non-technical audience. Strong knowledge of information systems security standards and practices (e.g., access control, system hardening, system audit and log file monitoring, security policies, and incident handling). Strong conceptual and practical understanding of IT Infrastructure designs, technologies, products, and services. This should include knowledge of networking protocols, firewall functionality, host and network intrusion detection systems, operating systems, databases, encryption, load balancing, and other technologies
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of HIPAA, other related regulations, risk assessment practices, current and emerging l technologies including medicall records system, digital imaging, health record systems, Windows Server, Linux Server, and SQL databases. Expertise with implementation and operation of End Point Security Tools, including Antivirus, host Firewall and Host IDS. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment. Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to conduct research into IT security issues and products as required. Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and non-technical language. Highly self-motivated and directed. Team-oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment.
