The Georgia Power Company Corporate Security Specialist will report to a Georgia Power Company Corporate Security Supervisor, who will report to the Georgia Power Corporate Security Operations Center Manager. The Security Specialist will be responsible for monitoring a wide range of highly technical, networked physical and electronic security technologies (intrusion detection systems, CCTV, fence vibration, ground radar, etc…) deployed in defense of a high security campus and identified company sites in the State of Georgia. Additionally, the Security Specialist will monitor security technology deployed by some of the company’s business partners in defense of identified sites.
The Security Specialist will proactively conduct scheduled and random security patrols of the campus, monitor and respond to employee generated alarms or requests for security services, screen all visitors, mail and packages and maintain situation awareness of the campus and its curtilage. The Security Specialist will serve as an armed uniformed Corporate Security first responder. The Security Specialist will team with other Security Specialists and site security leadership as a quick reaction force to defend the facility, staff, visitors and operational mission. The Security Specialist will team with local and state first responders to deter, detect, disrupt, delay or neutralize any active, armed threat against the campus. The Security Specialist will conduct limited, preliminary investigations, as appropriate, into security incidents or concerns on the campus and ensure that they are properly documented and communicated through the Corporate Security chain of command in a timely and thorough manner for further review and action as appropriate. The Security Specialist will maintain a rigorous regiment of assigned, on-going training to ensure operational readiness at all times.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Reports to Corporate Security Shift Supervisor.
Work closely with the Corporate Security Supervisors in the implementation of best practices and standardization of tactical and technical deliverables, particularly in the areas of physical access control systems (PACS), complex security systems monitoring and federal security compliance.
Ensure continuous strategic and operational alignment with the Corporate Security Supervisor.
Provide tactical, technical and analytical deliverables are well-organized and executed on time, ethically and responsibly. Maintain proficiency with critical thinking skills to identify and assess suspicious activity, intelligence, and security incidents at company facilities and assets, perform structured analysis of energy-related event data to determine threats, vulnerabilities, trends, and impacts to energy infrastructure.
Monitor security and crime trends at company locations, and throughout the energy industry. Collect and analyze critical, time sensitive research and data regarding serious incidents and threats impacting energy infrastructure. Assesses urgency of incident or threat, then prepares and briefs Security Shift Supervisors or other Corporate Security leadership as appropriate. Manages multiple priorities and projects with consistent results. Staff all security posts in order to prevent unauthorized personnel and contraband from entering the campus.
Assist with the coordination of scheduled and randomized security checks of campus perimeter, structures, vehicles, mail/packages, personnel, contractors, etc.
Assist in maintaining positive liaison with local law enforcement and emergency first responders.
Review security documentation and information products to ensure proficiency.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED
Minimum three to five years prior experience in criminal justice, corporate security, private security, law enforcement or military helpful.
Strong written and oral communication, critical thinking decision making, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Working knowledge of facilities physical security standards and protocol is helpful.
Ability to build positive team relationships with peers.
Demonstrated understanding of security concepts and sophisticated security technologies helpful.
Must pass psychological testing, successfully enroll and remain in company’s Insider Threat Program.
Must possess a current, valid driver’s license.
Ability to obtain and remain appropriately licensed through the Georgia Secretary of State – Board of Private Detectives and Security Agencies.
Work in full duty uniform and ballistic vest in an armed position, pass initial and periodic firearms and use of force qualifications.
Conduct detailed threat analyses.
Work under high stress, shifting priorities with appropriate degree of urgency.
Appropriately handle and protect sensitive, confidential information and intelligence.
Work independently to achieve results with little supervision.
Maintain ongoing vigilance, situation awareness and defense in depth strategy and tactics.
