Our client is building a cross-functional team to support the new Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) within the Department of Defense (DoD). The JAIC will have oversight over almost all artificial intelligence operations in the DoD. We will help our customer accelerate the delivery AI- enabled capabilities, scale Department-wide impact of AI, and synchronize AI activities to expand customer advantages. The team will enable the DoD to seamlessly build, deploy, and operate machine learning solutions for DoD-level problems.
The ideal candidate will engage directly with customers to participate in the design, development, delivery, and ongoing management of data integration/transformation solutions that make it possible to apply AI/ML to high priority missions in the Department of Defense. The initial work location for this position is in the National Capital Region (NCR). There is potential for a relocation of this position during the period of performance to a city outside of the NCR.
Role and Responsibilities
Work with operational subject-matter experts to understand various DoD data formats, uses, and architectures.
Ingest, analyze, transform, and validate data so that it is ready for consumption by AI/ML
Perform debugging, troubleshooting, modifications, and unit testing of integration
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering or Mathematics required at a minimum; Master’s Degree highly
4+ years of experience with system/data integration, development or implementation of enterprise and/or cloud
A demonstrated passion for working with data at scale and empowering organizations through data
Proficiency in data integration/ETL
Experience in the big data ecosystem (e.g., large scale data analytics using Hadoop, Kafka, Spark).
Familiarity with NoSQL architectures and tools (e.g., HDFS, Elastic search, Cassandra, MongoDB).
Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R, Java).
SQL fluency and experience querying SQL and NoSQL databases using Python, R, or equivalent languages.
Solid understanding of data modeling best practices
Ability to apply statistical and data mining techniques to extract data from image files, text-based files, structured and unstructured data,
Knowledge and experience of statistical techniques and concepts (e.g., regressions, properties of distributions, statistical tests).
Ability to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance up to the Top Secret SCI
Additional Preferred Skills
Understanding of a variety of machine learning techniques (e.g., clustering, decision tree learning, neural networks) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
Domain or application expertise in predictive maintenance, logistics, or humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
Experience with the Federal government, especially DoD
