The Ohio State University is seeking to hire its first IT Disaster Recovery (DR) Program Lead, to build on the existing body of DR work and establish, implement and administer a comprehensive new DR program for the university.
The DR Program Lead will develop and maintain the university's DR policies and procedures, and will partner with university technology and related leadership to ensure the university adheres to sound and effective DR practices.
This position will be responsible for ensuring the university has the capacity and capability to respond and recover from any disaster that may impact the IT infrastructure. The DR Program Lead will report to the Associate Director for Security Governance, within the Enterprise Security team in the Office of the Chief Information Officer. They will have responsibility for all DR policies and procedures for the university and medical center, and will be a member of the governance team, including another DR-focused individual. Role Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of the role are as follows: - Establishes a program for operational DR activities, to ensure that DR planning is consistent and effective across the university and medical center communities - Creates and maintains DR governance and implementation groups – Creates and maintains IT Disaster Recovery (DR) policies and procedures for the university - Acts as subject matter expert for best practices in Disaster Recovery planning and response - Partners with stakeholders such as Business Continuity, Cyber Security, Data Privacy, Enterprise Risk Management, and Public Safety to ensure appropriate testing of DR plans for integration of preparedness efforts across the university - Ensures DR incident response activities are planned and executed in an effective manner - Ensures DR policies, controls and procedures comply with applicable laws and regulations - Represents DR program objectives and activities to university stakeholder groups, external partners and constituents - Ensures that critical enterprise applications can be recovered in alignment with documented Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) to ensure readiness in the event of an disruption - Partners with Business Continuity Management to ensure that the disaster recovery and business continuity plans drive disaster recovery strategy and procedures - In the event of a disaster, the role would provide guidance and support to university leadership to ensure that a successful recovery with minimum business impact is executed - Ensures DR training is available to affected staff - Consults and interacts with other institutions, federal agencies and other entities outside of the university to understand best practices, compliance concerns, or regulation interpretation - Provides assurance mechanisms for DR plans and architectures, works with partners to provide solutions for known issues or concerns - Evaluates and makes recommendations for hardware and software products and solutions in support of IT DR capabilities across the university

For reference, the typical work experience and educational background of candidates in this role are as follows: - Six years of applicable business experience, including five years of disaster recovery experience - Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience - Project and work group management experience - Experience creating and/or managing a Disaster Recovery program - Ability to professionally conduct difficult conversations - Familiarity with DR tools, techniques and technologies - Demonstrated ability to influence/persuade stakeholders - Ability to prioritize, superior written and verbal communications
- Relevant Disaster Recovery or Business Continuity Certifications - Security Certification(s); CISSP, CEA, MCA, CCSA, CISA, CRISC, ITIL, GIAC, SANS or similar - Senior Management presentation and communication skills. - Portfolio Experience
Target Salary: $102,700.00 - $125,600.00 Annually
