Description of Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of Assistant Director for International Student and Scholar Services, will perform professional level duties in researching, analyzing and resolving complex technical issues related to international student admission, registration, and records.
- Coordinate engagement with prospects and applicants at all stages of the admission and enrollment process utilizing multiple platforms including Skype, email, text and social media outreach.
- Assist with international admissions counseling for prospective students with partner institutions and educational organizations worldwide.
- Working with International Recruitment Manager and Admissions Office, assist in developing and implementing campus-based and program specific marketing and recruitment strategies, including: high school and business visitation programs, on- and off-campus college visitations and tours, college fairs, and summer cohort programs.
- Track statistics, gather data, and write reports related to international student enrollment;
- Coordinate targeted partnership articulation agreements.
- Serve as liaison to high school, universities, language centers, and other entities for summer enrollment and other special programs.
- Reporting to the Assistant Director of International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS), provide useful and accurate immigration and student visa counseling as well as general advising services to international students when needed.
- Develop and run an international student outreach program for enrollment, retention and feedback.
- Help with planning and execution of New Student Orientation, New Student welcome, recruitment, and other special events.
- Develop and maintain database of international alumni and overseas partners.
- Display a commitment to a career in international education.
Will engage in overseas recruitment travel and work on new initiatives such as virtual recruiting events, developing alumni and other support networks abroad, and other activities to attract and retain increasing numbers of undergraduate and graduate international students at SUNY Oswego. The International Enrollment Management Specialist must display ethical, proactive, and internationally knowledgeable and sophisticated communication skills and must follow-up with potential students and partners abroad towards increasing enrollment.
In addition, will be expected to display a commitment to undergraduate and/or graduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.
- Bachelor's degree
- Previous experience in international admission and/or student services office
- Valid driver's license
- Valid passport
- Demonstrated effective written and presentation skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as well as travel independently worldwide
- Keen cultural sensitivity, maturity, and professionalism
- Ability to speak a second language
- Ethical and confidential manner towards student concerns and records
- Be self-directed and results oriented
- Have knowledge of SUNY Oswego
- Experience working and serving diverse populations.
- Experience with Banner

Description of Department: The Office of International Education and Programs (OIEP) is primarily responsible for education abroad and international student and scholar services and recruitment. In collaboration with other offices on campus it supports international activities of the university's academic departments and encourages comprehensive campus internationalization. It promotes the internationalization of the curriculum and campus cultural life and works to increase the number of international students attending Oswego and the number of Oswego students studying and conducting research abroad.
