Responsible for maintaining several novel transgenic mouse lines, including breeding, genotyping, and some surgical procedures. Maintain a data base of all transgenic mouse lines in the CNDR and provide a monthly census report for PIs. Develop and maintain a rapport with ULAR husbandry staff and supervisors to act as a liaison for CNDR. Act as shipping and receiving officer for the CNDR for transgenic mice, including weekly ordering of mice for all lab personnel. Provide technical assistance to postdocs and graduate students in the lab. Candidate must be extremely organized and be able to conduct work independently and within a team environment. Ability to multi task is critical. Other duties include maintaining some laboratory equipment, laboratory stock solutions, ordering supplies, as well as keeping a good lab notebook.
In addition to the duties above the Specialist C will provide technical instruction/training for all rodent procedures to CNDR personnel and will prepare SOPs and IACUC protocols.
