The Investment Risk Analyst position is part of the Global Risk and Analytics team. The primary focus of this group is leading Wellington Management's portfolio oversight, risk measurement, and security analytics processes across our broad equity, multi-asset, hedge fund, research and fixed income strategies. The Investment Risk Analyst will work closely with the Associate Director of Equity Risk to contribute to the broad portfolio oversight efforts of the Global Risk and Analytics team.
The Analyst will produce quantitative analyses of portfolio positioning and trading dynamics for risk oversight reviews using third part and Wellington systems and will be involved with ongoing research projects across risk. The role requires a working knowledge of equity risk analysis and portfolio management concepts and comfort with statistical and quantitative approaches to investment analysis.
The Investment Risk Analyst will focus on the following responsibilities:
Oversee the production of risk analysis used in risk oversight meetings using Factset and other proprietary analytical tools
Develop key insights from analyzing portfolio analytics
Develop and prepare periodic reporting materials and dashboards to evaluate risk across the firm's equity platform
Leverage technology to automate workflows
Research peer positioning, factor exposures, and performance results using third party/consultant databases
Help manage and organize various business issues related to the group's risk oversight
The ideal candidate will have a solid analytical foundation and organizational skills, be motivated by a team environment, have the ability to learn about new analytical applications and investment products, and possess the desire and aptitude to develop domain knowledge on quantitative risk measurement. Experience in the use of analytical and database tools including Factset, BARRA, MSCI RiskMetrics, and eVestment Alliance, is desired but not required. An ability to quickly develop a strong working knowledge of systems and reporting tools is required. Other key qualifications include:
2+ years of experience in portfolio analytics, data analysis, and/or risk management,
Strong academic track record; undergraduate degree in economics, mathematics, finance or a quantitative field
Thoroughness and attention to detail are essential traits given the importance of communicating correct information to investors and other members of the portfolio management team
Ability to organize, manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, meet deadlines and deliver high quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to conduct independent research in a collaborative team environment
Capable of taking responsibility for independent projects with limited supervision
Grace under pressure; ability to adapt
Humility, natural curiosity
