The Director of Application and Product Services position provides leadership, management and supervision to the Application and Product Services team within the Information Technology Services division at Minneapolis Community and Technical College. This is a permanent, full-time, supervisory position and reports directly to the Chief Information Officer. The Director aligns the team with the campus needs, and establishes and ensures that the team follows proper software application lifecycle management, systems development lifecycle management and project management and service management methodologies. This position is responsible for making certain that the Application and Product Services Team delivers superior and timely results that are secure and in alignment with departmental, division and college priorities.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information technology, or related field; AND 5 years related IT experience in web application development or project management including at least 3 years of working on large scale projects or leading an application development, database design and analysis, or project management team and including at least 2 years supervision experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to complete all responsibilities of the position.
Knowledge and experience in security best practices in application development sufficient to application development and securing databases and other environments.
Experience managing a portfolio of IT-related projects and ensuring that project plans are created detailing deliverables and resource needs; ensuring that there is coordination among projects, compatibility with program infrastructure, maximum efficiency of resources, and project status communication with stakeholders; and ensuring that all project goals and objectives are delivered on-time, on-budget and on-schedule.
Knowledge and experience in Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) sufficient to service management methodologies including Application Lifecycle Management, Systems Development Lifecycle Management, Project Management, and Service Management methodologies.
Advanced proficiency and experience with currently utilized development technologies sufficient to system development lifecycle management methodologies.
Strong verbal communication skills sufficient to participate in discussions and communicate technical idea and procedures to technical and non-technical staff and managers and present recommendations and reports to senior managers.
Strong written communication skills sufficient to write, prepare, and edit materials such as memos, procedures, reports, presentations, etc., using correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence construction and clearly explaining complex technical ideas and procedures to varied technical and non-technical audiences.
Customer services skills sufficient to actively listen to and understand customer needs and provide accurate information and appropriate alternatives in a timely, thorough, courteous, respectful, and professional manner in person, over the phone and in writing.
Higher education experience.

Experience with application and CMS servers and scripting.
Experience with open source technologies.
Experience with Microsoft Analytics and Reporting Services.
Experience with database performance analysis.

Salary range for the Systems Analysis Unit Supervisor classification is $31.20 - $53.92/hourly; $65,146 - $112,585/annually. Placement within the salary range for this position is determined on the basis of relevant experience and education and in accordance with the 2017 - 2019 Middle Management Association (MMA) labor contract.
