Plans, supervises and participates in the operation, design, construction, maintenance and repair of complex research facilities and equipment at Center for Biomedical Research (CBR).
Possesses both a broad and deep understanding of the job
Perform highly complex/skilled work in designing, planning,constructing, and repairing technical equipment
Performs new equipment inspection and repair of complex equipment
Provides solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or occur infrequently
Uses discretion to modify work practices and processes to achieve results or improve efficiency
Conducts repairs, performance assurance and preventative maintenance testing
Impacts the team's results through the quality and effectiveness of own work
Explains detailed, sensitive, confidential and/or complicated technical information to and within the team and/or other necessary parties
Assists faculty, students on the center equipment to assure the instruments are functional, as requested
Routine maintenance and repair on all CBR center equipment to make sure that they are functional
Assist and train faculty and students on operations of center equipment
Communicate with manufactures to schedule instrument maintenances if the instruments are on service agreements
Writing and posting standard operation procedures (SOP), sign-up sheets, and documenting instrument usages for all the CBR center equipment
Other duties as assigned byt the center director
Works with a limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused only on complex new assignments
Supervise student workers at the center on instrument usage
Distributes work and provides subject matter guidance to other team members (e.g. preparing schedules, planning and assigning work according to the schedules)
Plans, assigns, inspects and assists the activities of students working at the center
An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry, or Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering, or related fields or an equivalent combination of education and at least 2 year of experience in analytical instrument maintenance from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Experiences/education in chemistry/biology instrumentation operation and maintenance
Experiences with computer software for instrumental controlling
Experiences with analytical instrumental repairing
Experiences with working with a diverse, multicultural population.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with faculty, students, and outside entities, such as instrumental manufacturers
