Ames Laboratory, a Department of Energy (DOE) funded national laboratory, affiliated with Iowa State University, is seeking candidates for the position of Cyber Security Manager within the Enterprise Information Services Department. The Ames Laboratory is a Department of Energy funded national laboratory operated through a contractual agreement with Iowa State University.
This position fulfills the duties and responsibilities associated with the Cyber Security program. This position is responsible for providing strategic direction, and development and recommendation of policy, security controls, and oversight for the cyber security environment of the Ames Laboratory's unclassified cyber security program. The person in this position strategically leads the operation of the cyber security program by building upon a robust contractor assurance system and an innovative risk management framework approach. The person in this position works closely with the Enterprise Information Services (IEIS) Manager and the EIS Infrastructure Manager. The person in this position supervises the Cyber Security Analysts in the EIS department.
The successful candidate will possess the ability to comprehend complex computer applications, and systems and devices in a networked environment along with strong leadership skills in the area of cyber security. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral) as well as the ability to work independently and as a member of a team on multiple, simultaneous projects. The candidate will also possess the ability to interpret and apply complex technical documentation and the ability to present technical information to diverse groups. Excellent problem, time management, and project management skills are also essential for success in this position.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 2 years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Degree in Information Assurance, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Technical Writing or related field.
Prior experience in the administration of a cybersecurity program.
Demonstrated experience or knowledge of log analysis tools (e.g. Splunk).
Demonstrated experience or knowledge of operating systems (Linux, Microsoft Windows, and/or Mac OS) and their related applications.
Demonstrated experience or knowledge of networked environment.
