You will work on homegrown, cutting edge, innovative products in the data science and analytic space, as well as create and design some on your own. You will work with data scientists to develop cutting edge products in the big data space, working to revolutionize healthcare. Candidates for this role can telecommute locally from Minnetonka, MN; Chicago, IL; Austin or Dallas, TX; or San Francisco, CA - Nation-wide telecommuting is for internals only Primary Responsibilities: Design and Develop big data platform and supporting architecture in performance, scalability & security Responsible for defining a solution that is secure, appropriate in scale and size Perform all phases of software engineering including requirements analysis, application design, code development and testing Design and implement product features in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders Design reusable components, frameworks and libraries Work very closely with architecture groups and drive solutions Participate in an Agile / Scrum methodology to deliver high - quality software releases every 2 weeks through Sprints Design and develop innovative solutions to meet the needs of the business Review code and provide feedback relative to best practices and improving performance Troubleshoot production support issues post - deployment and come up with solutions as required Mentor and guide other software engineers within the team
Required Qualifications:7+ years of development experience with Java and Web Services 5+ years of experience combined experience with XML, Web Services, WSDL and JSF 2+ years of exposure in big data space (Hadoop, Spark, etc.) 5+ years of relational database experience Knowledge of Spark Previous experience and successful track-record of learning new tools and technologies and leveraging these on integration and implementation projects Preferred Qualifications:Experience using Spark Java Architecture experience Solutioning experience Agile methodology experience Thorough understanding of service oriented architecture (SOA) concepts Understanding of the SOLID object-oriented principlesCareers with UnitedHealthcare.
