Underthe direction of the System Manager for Patient Access, Training and QualityAssurance (QA), the Patient Access Trainer initiates the training and qualityassurance development, implementation, competency assessment and administrationof the patient access staff and management across Cook County Health &Hospitals System (CCHHS). Conductsrandom site visits to measure competency and performance of the registrars to ensurecompliance requirements are met. Performs quality management by initiating and participating in specificreviews and assists with quality monitoring.
This position is exemptfrom Career Service under the CCHHS Personnel Rules.
Initiatesthe training and QA development, implementation, competency assessment andadministration of the patient access staff and management across (CCHHS);ensures training occurs on a timely basis to consistently improve accuracy
Schedulestraining sessions for new hire orientation in Patient Access to includepre-registration, registration, bed control, insurance verification, customerservices, financial counseling, scheduling, quality assurance and revenue cycleoverview
Providesroutine training for updates to policy or procedural changes to the PatientAccess staff on pre-registration, registration, bed control, insuranceverification, point-of-service collections, customer service, financialcounseling, scheduling, CCHHS policies and State and Federal requirements
Trainsstaff to understand the importance of thoroughly documenting and recordinginformation in writing and electronic format
Educatesstaff on the principles and processes for providing customer service support ina hospital environment
Monitorstraining schedules to determine if changes need to be made to accommodatestaffing interface
Conductssampling, testing and evaluation of patient access staff by utilizing thepatient access key performance indicators; makes recommendations regardingcorrective training to address inefficiencies; reports outcomes to managers
Identifiestrends related to frequent or common types of errors and reports these trendsto department management for resolution
Updatesand maintains training manuals and education resources to provide clearinstructions on organization expectations, accountability for patientregistration, insurance verification, financial counseling, filing appeals onunderpayments or denials
Conductsrandom site visits to measure competency and performance of the registrars toensure compliance requirements are met
Performsquality management by initiating and participating in specific reviews andassists with quality monitoring
Understandsand interprets compliance regulations, standards and directives regardinggovernmental/regulatory agencies and/or third-party payers and how theseregulations affect patient access
Communicateswith various management, physicians and staff to address any questions orconcerns
Enhancesand maintains own professional growth and development through participation inrelevant educational programs, literature, in-service meetings, workshops andseminars
Mustbe able to travel to CCHHS work sites located throughout Cook County
Must be able to work flexible hours which may include evening hours

Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required (Must provide official transcript at time of interview).
Minimumof three (3) years of experience ininstructional/training module design isrequired.
Intermediate proficiency in MicrosoftOffice Suite is required.
Abilityto travel to CCHHS work sites located throughout Cook County is required.
Mustbe able to work flexible hours which may include evening hours is required.
Experience as a Business ProcessAnalyst.
Two(2) years ofexperience in customer service using Cerner and/or Siemens software(Scheduling, Registration, FirstNet, etc.)
Three(3) years ofexperience in training and quality assurance in patient access.
